Want to Start Your First Real Estate Blog? 6 Options to Get Started!

So you’ve gone to all the conferences and you’ve listened to all the seminars. Maybe you’ve even taken a class or two, and every instructor, every conference speaker, and all the celebrities in Hollywood are all saying the same thing: “You need to take your business online!” “You need to blog!” “You need to Tweet!” Maybe you don’t even know what a blog is, and, last you checked, tweeting was something birds did.

But, like more than one agent I’ve talked to in the last three months, you are determined not to let your business slip away to technology in an industry you’ve poured your heart and soul into. And, like other agents who have built strong companies, you see a business opportunity in the mix.

So the big question is: How do you get started? And what is the simplest and most effective way to navigate the uncharted seas of the World Wide Web?

Which Instructors Would You Like to See Back in 2011?

2010 was a ripe renewal year for Real Estate agents and the Greater Springfield Board of REALTORS® had the classes and the class sizes to prove it. While 2011 may not boast renewal-year numbers, we do hope to have a great turnout just the same. And so we’re asking you who your favorite instructors are? Who would you like to see back at GSBOR? What classes would you be interested in attending? And what topics would intrigue you enough to get your continuing education hours completed months in advance?

We want to hear from you! Email your responses to bthompson@gsbor.com.

The Best Sites For Free Legit Stock Photos for Your Real Estate Blog

If you design your own web site or if you’ve been blogging for even a short while, you understand the difference that having photos on your posts can make. It’s easy to get bogged down in the text sometimes, and images can add color, excitement, and pizzazz to your site. After a while, images of your latest listings can get old, and so you think of other real estate topics to blog about, and then you go looking for images. But where do you go?

If you’re thinking Google Images, you’d best shift gears. While it may be easy to type what you’re looking for into the search box and right-click on it, those images are copyrighted, and more than a few bloggers have found themselves in legal hot water for reposting them. So now where does that leave us?

Well, the most logical legal solution is to take the pictures yourself. Grab your Nikon, Kodak, or even your BlackBerry and snap the shots you’re looking for. But, if you’re STILL not satisfied and you’d like to enhance those colors and use the end-product of a photographer who’s better qualified, there are some places you can go without having to pay for stock photos.

Getting a Head Start on Your 2012 Renewal and New Choices in Continuing Education

Yes, the busy renewal season for Real Estate brokers is behind us and the cutoff date for salesperson renewal is only a month out, but it’s still never a bad idea to get a jump on things, and for real estate agents, one of the best things you can get a jump on is your continuing education.

Yes, I’m sure you can think of a thousand things you might rather do with your time than sit in a classroom and hear the same lectures you’ve been hearing since you got into the game in the first place. For most of you, those thousand things probably consist of a client or two. But, if you’ve got the time, and you’re going to need those credits anyway, why not invest in some knowledge you’re actually interested in, learn some practices that might help your business, and network with a few other professionals in the process?

2010 RPAC Contributors

Welcome to RPAC, the voice of REALTORS® on Capitol Hill. Since 1969 RPAC has been promoting the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. During the last federal election cycle alone, RPAC contributed over $12 million to pro-REALTOR® candidates to Congress, making it the number one trade association political action committee in the nation. Why has RPAC been successful? Because RPAC is not a charity. RPAC is a business.

On the national level, we give our money to those in Congress who both understand and support REALTOR® issues. We look to build the future by putting RPAC dollars in places that will help advance the interests of Real Estate professionals. RPAC is the only political group in the country organized for REALTORS®, run by REALTORS® and exists solely to further issues important to REALTORS®. Think of your RPAC contribution as an investment. The best investment you’ll ever make in your business and yourself. RPAC is your best insurance against poorly designed small business and commercial real estate legislation. If you’re not giving your fair share to RPAC, you’re not doing all you can to better your profession, your business, and yourself.
